5630B - RESTRAINT PROCEDURES

Corporation personnel may use reasonable physical force upon a student necessary to maintain a safe learning environment. They may also use reasonable physical force upon a student necessary to protect:

  1. a staff member's personal safety;

  2. the safety of another staff member or visitor;

  3. the safety of the student or other students;

  4. school property from damage or destruction;

  5. themselves and others from danger arising from a dangerous weapon or object which is in the possession of or control of a student.

If such physical action by a staff member is not effective, the police should be contacted at once.
