EMERGENCY TREATMENT AND BOARD-ORDEREDPHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS

4160C - EMERGENCY TREATMENT AND BOARD-ORDEREDPHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS

  1. The Southwestern Medical Center is hereby designated as the official location for emergency treatment and for physical examinations required by the Board of Education of the District.

  2. Appointments are not needed.

  3. If a return/follow-up visit is necessary, the staff member will be given a Return Form with a copy to the School District.

  4. When the medical personnel determine that the staff member may return to work, they will advise the Personnel Office of the return date and restriction, if applicable.

  5. If a staff member is injured on-the-job, the accident must be reported within twenty-four (24) hours to the immediate supervisor who will, in turn, report the accident to the Business Office.

  6. The Business Office will inform the insurance carrier, according to the guidelines, of any Workers' Compensation claims.

  7. When an injured staff member leaves the District, the supervisor will inform the Business Office.

  8. Postoffer and Postemployment Physicals

    Within seventy-two (72) hours a formal report will be sent to the District for inclusion in the applicant's Personnel File.

Employees will be notified of the results of the medical examination upon receipt. Any and all reports of such examination will be maintained in a separate confidential file in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA). In the event of a report indicating that the candidate is not qualified to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, the Superintendent will make a recommendation to the Board of non- employment. The Superintendent or his/her designee may discuss the results of the report with the healthcare provider who performed the medical examination prior to the Superintendent making a recommendation to the Board.

Information from examinations required of any employee will be handled in the same manner.
