7310 - DISPOSAL OF PERSONAL PROPERTY

The Director of Business Services shall have the authority to approve the disposal of personal property (materials, equipment, furnishings, et al.) having a market value of $10,000 or less.

All proceedings involving the disposal of personal property with a market value of more than $10,000 shall be approved by the Board.

The person in charge of each facility or program shall be responsible for the identification of personal property that is no longer needed for the proper operation of the District. Each is to develop a plan for the proper disposal of such obsolete personal property.

The plan shall be submitted to the Director of Business Services who shall approve or disapprove the plan. This staff member has the responsibility to ensure the plan meets all requirements of State law, administrative guidelines of the Department of Public Instruction, administrative guidelines of all agencies which may have an interest in the personal property, and the intent of the Board in disposing of personal property.

A record is to be maintained of all personal property disposed of under the provisions of this administrative guideline, including the fair market value of the property. A summary of such transactions shall be made available to the Board on a quarterly basis.
