5515 - OPERATION OF VEHICLES ON DISTRICT PROPERTY

A detailed description of the rights and responsibilities concerning student use of motor vehicles is contained in the high school student handbook. The Motor Vehicle Code and the following guidelines apply to anyone who drives a vehicle onto District property.

  1. Vehicles are to be operated on designated roadways and parking lots only. Drivers are prohibited from driving or parking on any natural areas of District property without the consent of the Building Principals.
  2. Students shall complete an application for a parking permit to receive the privilege of parking on District property during the school day. Parking on District property, if approved, is a privilege. If abused in any way, it may be revoked at any time.

If a student's parking permit is suspended or revoked, no fees will be refunded. Failure to comply with these administrative guidelines may result in loss of privileges and/or disciplinary actions for the student.

In the event a vehicle is found to be parked or used improperly, the District may take one or more of the following actions:

    1. Prohibit the person from driving on District property.
    2. Contact the police to have the vehicle towed from the premises at the operator's expense.
    3. Invoke disciplinary procedures as described in the Student Handbook, staff handbook.
    4. Seek the assistance of law enforcement.
  3. The District shall not be responsible for any vehicle or items in a vehicle that are lost, stolen, or damaged as a result of being on District property.

When transportation is available through the District, participating students shall not drive to school-sponsored activities unless written permission is granted by their parents and approved by the principal.

No other students are allowed to be driven to a school-sponsored activity by the approved student driver without a note from parents granting permission and approval by the principal.
