3270 - LESSON PLANS

Every teacher is responsible for planning on a weekly and daily basis. Lesson plans are to be developed within the context of the applicable courses of study and learning units and should be designed for individual student programs being cognizant of student strengths and weaknesses. (See AG 2231)

  1. Each lesson plan should contain, in addition to whatever else a teacher may wish to include, the following elements:

    1. purpose of the lesson (e.g., Learning Target)
    2. Pedagogically sound teaching practices (e.g., Gradual Release of Responsibility)
    3. needed resources
    4. how the lesson will begin (e.g., Success Starter)
    5. how lesson will conclude (e.g., Exit Ticket)
  2. Lesson plans for individualized programs should reflect a general overview and purpose of the instructional program based on the Course of Study. Individual student records may serve as an integral part of the lesson plan.
  3. A copy of the weekly plans is to be made available for review by appropriate administrative and supervisory personnel upon request.
  4. Lesson plans, as well as adequate directions, are to be provided for substitutes so they can continue the ongoing program as closely as possible.
