6510 - PAYROLL AUTHORIZATION
The most substantial payment of public funds for the operation of the School District is that which is made to the employees of the Board of Education for services rendered. To ensure that each person so compensated is validly employed by this District and that the compensation remitted fairly represents the services rendered, this policy is promulgated.
Employment of all District personnel whether by the year, term, month, week, day or hour in contract, temporary, or substitute form must be approved by the Board, except where authority to appoint certain personnel of the District has been delegated to the Superintendent.
Each motion of the Board to employ or reemploy on a contractual basis (i.e., for a fixed period of time) shall include the name of the individual, the position title, the salary as determined by adopted salary schedule, the period of employment and whether on a limited, continuing contract basis or the special activity assignment.
Each motion of the Board to employ on a temporary basis (i.e., by the hour or day) shall include the name of the individual, the position title, the rate of pay, and the period of time during which such authorization is valid.
The Board shall take note in its minutes of all actions with regard to resignation, retirement, death, or discharge of all employees or the nonreemployment of a teacher. Each such action shall include the name of the employee and the date upon which salary or wages will terminate and the position formerly held.
Authorization is hereby given to withhold salary or wages for unapproved time off in accordance with Board policy by action of the Superintendent.
Overtime can only be paid noninstructional employees when authorized previously by the building principal, transportation director and subsequently approved by the Superintendent.
All regular staff members shall be paid in twenty-six (26) pays. Such payments shall be made every other Friday.
All substitute employees shall be paid the last pay of each month for services rendered up to five (5) days before the end of the pay period.
Special activity employees shall be paid as follows:
supplemental extended service teachers contract added to regular pay;
special duty – extra-curricular after season is completed or at the end of the school year.
Overtime will be paid the last pay of each month for services rendered up to five (5) days before the end of the pay period, with adjustment for odd pays.
Payroll checks shall be signed by the Treasurer.
