5810 - STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOL AFFAIRS

The Board of Education believes that students should be invited to participate in the governance of school activities at levels appropriate to their ages and competencies because as an institution fundamental to the operation of a democratic society, the schools should strive to exemplify the democratic ideal of citizen participation in decision making.

The Board directs that students be invited to participate in areas the building principal deems appropriate to their age and competencies.

The Superintendent shall develop procedures to implement this policy which provides for the submission, consideration and response to constructive student suggestions.
