5453 - STUDENT INTERSCHOLASTIC EXTRA-CURRICULAR ELIGIBILITY
The Board of Education shall determine the standards of eligibility to be met by all students participating in the interscholastic program. Such standards shall require that each student be in good physical condition, be free of injury, and have fully recovered from illness before participating in any interscholastic athletic event. In addition to the eligibility requirements established by the Ohio High School Athletic Association, to be eligible for any competitive interscholastic extra-curricular activity, a student:

If a student becomes ineligible under these standards but improves his/her grade point average to 1.0 during the current grading period and has only one (1) F, s/he may be reinstated on the fifth school day of the next grading period.
A student who fails to maintain his/her eligibility will become ineligible on the fifth school day of the next grading period.
A student who enters ninth grade with a grade point average of 1.0 and only one (1) F will be eligible for the first grading period.

The definition of interscholastic extra-curricular activities is defined as a school-sponsored student competitive activity involving more than one (1) school or School District.
Failure to comply with the grading period eligibility requirements results in extra-curricular interscholastic ineligibility for the succeeding grade period.
Summer school work will not count toward meeting eligibility requirements.
Students on home education will not be eligible to participate in interscholastic athletics.
Students who are not academically eligible will be permitted to practice with their respective teams, but will not be permitted to dress for competition or participate in any contests.
