3220.01 - EVALUATION OF ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL
The continuing evaluation of administrative staff members is necessary to enable the Board of Education to monitor the effectiveness and competence of such staff members and to assist them in the improvement of their professional performance.
For purposes of this policy, "administrative staff members" shall include personnel holding the following positions of principal and assistant principal.
The Board directs that evaluation of all administrative personnel on a limited contract be performed at least once annually. Each evaluation shall be conducted in accordance with the duties specified in his/her job description.
The Superintendent shall develop procedures for the conduct of administrative evaluations which may include:
individual conferences with administrators to plan evaluation procedures;
the administrator’s own self-evaluation;
the joint review of his/her job description by each administrator and supervisor;
collection of evaluative data from a variety of sources in addition to on-the-job observations;
identification of each administrator’s areas of weakness with suggestions for improvement in each;
the opportunity for each administrator to appeal in writing the results of his/her evaluation;
the review of all administrative evaluations by the Superintendent.
Each written evaluation shall be followed by a conference between the administrator and the Superintendent. Both parties to the conference shall sign the evaluation report and retain a copy for their records.
The administrator shall have the right to submit a written disclaimer of the evaluation following the conference which disclaimer shall be attached to the report.
The Superintendent shall cause evaluations of administrators to be conducted in accordance with Board policy. In order to provide time to show progress in correcting deficiencies identified in the evaluation, the completed evaluation shall be shown to evaluatee at least sixty (60) days prior to any action by the Board on the employee’s contract of employment.
The procedure for evaluation of those administrators directly responsible to the Superintendent is as follows:
Prior to December 1st of each school year the Superintendent will schedule an evaluation conference with each administrator.
