1544 - EMPLOYMENT OF RETIRED ADMINISTRATOR
The Board of Education is under no obligation to employ any retired administrator and, further, there is no expectation of continued employment or re-employment when an administrator retires from the Southern Local School District.
Administrators employed by the Board after retirement will be restricted to one-year contracts. All retire/rehire employment contracts expire at the end of the contract period without action by the Board or notice of expiration to the individual employee.
A previously retired administrator must wave eligibility for continuing contract status as a teacher in the District.
In the event a reduction in force is necessary, previously retired administrators are released before any limited contract administrators and are not eligible for recall. However, previously retired administrators may be subsequently rehired at the Board’s discretion.
Salary placement shall be at Step 0 on the Administrator Salary Schedule. The retired administrator shall not advance on the salary schedule. The Board shall not pick up the retired administrator’s share of STRS contributions in whole or any part thereof.
Administrators employed by the Board after retirement shall not be eligible for a severance payment, tuition reimbursement or any retirement incentive program.
Retired administrators will be eligible for sick days; however, at the end of each year of employment, accumulated sick days will be deleted.
The evaluation of retired administrators shall be at the discretion of the Board.
This policy supersedes and take precedent over the provisions of R.C. 3317.13, 3319.02, 3319.08, 3319.081, 3319.11, 3319.111, 3319.141 and any and all other inconsistent or contrary state or federal statues, laws and/or regulations.
