1400.51 - JOB DESCRIPTION – NETWORK SERVICES COORDINATOR

JOB OBJECTIVES

Assist in the administration of the District’s technology program. Provide daily oversight of the District electronic networks (wired and wireless). Provide training and support to help staff and students benefit from technology applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related technology field is desirable.

  2. Possession of industry standard certificates in networking and electronic security is desirable.

  3. Meet all current health requirements.

  4. Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

  5. Training/experience with standard computer operating systems and architectures (i.e., installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair).

  6. Training and experience with common network operating systems.

  7. Commitment to continuing education to keep current with technological advances.

  8. Strong organizational and planning skills. Effective communication skills and the ability to work with students, faculty and the community.

  9. Available to work a flexible schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directly accountable to the Technology Coordinator for the effective organization, management, supervision of the District’s technology. Serve on assigned committees.

  2. Provide leadership to determine the relevance of technological advances. Work with administrators and staff to periodically review and revise the District’s plan as it relates to technology.

  3. Assist in developing and recommending policies governing the application and use of educational technology. Assist in ensuring compliance with all Federal laws concerning educational technology.

  4. Assist in developing ongoing technology training programs for staff.

  5. Provide ongoing technical support services for building level staff.

  6. Oversee the implementation of Google Apps for Education for the District.

  7. Day to day oversight of the electronic network, including checking essential logs.

  8. Assist in the receipt, inspection, installation, testing and inventory of new equipment and software.

  9. Coordinate the installation of computer wiring and connections (e.g., servers, hubs, routers, etc.). Provide assistance installing classroom equipment.

  10. Assist in maintaining an up-to-date inventory of the District’s technology resources.

  11. Assist in maintaining District file servers (e.g., users and groups, space allocations, backups etc.) for local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).

  12. Ensure that equipment is operational and available for use as needed. Provide repairs as needed.

  13. Work with staff to address computer security (e.g., consent forms, records, maintenance, students use of e-mail and the Internet, equipment storage etc.).

  14. Serve as a resource for staff and students seeking additional information or trying to improve skills.

  15. Oversee the preparation of technology equipment at the beginning of the year and storage of equipment at the end of the year.

  16. Maintain an ongoing communication program with District administrators (e.g., bulletins, memos, meetings, etc.) to communicate information about technology plans and activities.

  17. Seek and use resources that enhance educational activities (e.g., parent groups, volunteers, government programs, colleges and universities, community service organizations, professional associations, businesses, etc.).

  18. Recognize the value of leadership participation in national, State and regional activities (e.g., professional associations, advisory committees, etc.).

  19. Participate in professional growth activities to keep current with advances in knowledge and trends in education and technology.

  20. Serve as a role model for students. Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect and courtesy.

  21. Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.

  22. Serve as a resource for staff and students seeking additional information or trying to improve skills.

  23. Manage District level technology related communications (e.g., inquiries, mail, e-mail, announcements, news releases, questionnaires etc.).

  24. Monitor and administer local, State, and Federal technology programs and initiatives.

  25. Serve as the District liaison for instructional technology to supporting organizations (e.g., data acquisition sites, OILTS, OECN, FCC etc.).

  26. Oversee the preparation of technology equipment at the beginning of the year and storage of equipment at the end of the year.

  27. Maintain an ongoing communication program with District administrators (e.g., bulletins, memos, meetings etc.) to communicate information about technology plans and activities.

  28. Seek and use resources that enhance educational activities (e.g., parent groups, volunteers, government programs, colleges and universities, community service organizations, professional associations, businesses etc.).

  29. Recognize the value of leadership participation in national, State and regional activities (e.g., professional associations, advisory committees etc.).

  14. Reading and interpreting regulations, manuals, instructions, diagrams etc.

  15. Climbing and working from a ladder or other equipment that requires balancing skills.

  16. Working in confined spaces that limit physical movement.

  17. Punctual and able to maintain a good attendance record.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.

  2. Occasional interaction with agitated or upset individuals.

  3. Occasional interaction with disruptive or unruly students.

  4. Occasional exposure to student commotion.

  5. Occasional operation of a vehicle.

  6. Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.

  9. Considerable telephone contact and paperwork required.

  10. Duties may require occasional work during the evening and/or weekend.

  11. Duties require operating power tools.

  12. Frequent exposure to electrical hazards.

  13. Occasional exposure to air borne particulates, fumes and odors.

  14. Occasional exposure to cleaning solvents and chemical vapors.

Terms of employment as specified in employee's administrative contract.
