Reports to: Superintendent

Employment Status: Twelve (12) months
Supervises and Evaluates: All custodial personnel

POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB GOAL:
This administrative position functions as the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. This position will provide supervision for building custodial staff, coordination of activities for District wide construction projects, District wide preventative maintenance actions, and energy management. This supervisor will maintain a high standard of environmental services and make good practice of the following:
- perform duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- report monthly on the status of all property services activities.
- maintain a good working relationship with the public and staff.
- maintain a personal appearance that is professional.
- maintain facility environments that provide the highest quality of health and safety.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma with appropriate training through classroom work, seminar experience or on-the-job training. Willing to continue ongoing education in areas related to responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least four (4) years experience in at least one (1) of the skilled trades preferred.
- Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings as well as other documents related to building specifications.
- Ability to operate various pieces of maintenance equipment including, but not limited to tractors, forklift, snow plows, and mowers.
- Have a working knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Have knowledge of the operations of police/fire, as well as the District's security systems.
- Ability to schedule, route, and coordinate maintenance services.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written.
PHYSICAL:
- Ability to hear a conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid.
- Ability to see and read with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
- Has sufficient use of arms, hands, legs, and feet to accomplish job responsibilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a positive workplace attitude and demeanor.
- Collaborate with others in a positive manner.
- Recruit, interview, and recommend for employment custodial personnel.
- Responsible for planning and scheduling projects and personnel in the custodial department.
- Responsible for all documentation related to custodial payroll. This includes approval of overtime and all forms of personnel leave.
- Provides the administration with analysis, information, and recommendations to meet District needs.
- Responsible for care, maintenance, and preparation of all athletic fields in conjunction with the Athletic Director, and works with others in the maintenance of the buildings and grounds in conjunction with custodial and maintenance personnel.
- Responsible for annual maintenance budget, and will give input on other District appropriations and long-term financial goals.
- Responsible as purchasing agent for all maintenance and custodial equipment and supplies. This will also include the storage and inventory of these materials.
- Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of District wide Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Responsible for a preventative, corrective and maintenance program of facilities.
- Responsible for health, safety and wellness programs in designated areas.
- Responsible for vehicles not assigned to the transportation department.
- Responsible for building inspections on a regular basis.
- Responsible for the evaluation of all work orders. This includes an evaluation of the order (in-house or contract), time, cost, materials and personnel for the project.
- Responsible for roofing systems, HVAC systems, security and fire systems, asbestos plan, energy management system, other mechanical systems, and will be the contact for phone, gas and electric providers.
- Responsible for snow removal in conjunction with custodial, maintenance, and transportation supervisors.
- Performs work along with maintenance personnel in plumbing, electric, carpentry, and others which are assigned in-house.
- Responsible for communications related to maintenance projects (in-house or contracted) as needed by others involved or affected by the project.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
