1400.42 - JOB DESCRIPTION – WEIGHT ROOM SUPERVISOR
Position: Weight Room Supervisor
Reports to: Athletic Director/Principal
Employment Status: Regular
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Evaluation: Evaluated once annually by those administrators that supervise.
RESPONSIBILITY
The Strength-Conditioning Supervisor is responsible directly to the athletic director. The supervisor also receives direction from the principals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the utilization and maintenance of weight training equipment.
- Maintain Sports First Aid Certification as required by the Ohio Department of Education.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The weight supervisor shall develop a safe healthy weight program that shall be beneficial to athletes in all sports and appropriate for different age levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, implement, and supervise the weight program and all related activities, which will include strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular programs.
- Develop and maintain an incentive or motivational program, coordinated with the Athletic Director.
- Keep the appropriate equipment maintenance records, individual progress evaluations, posters, etc. up to date.
- Keep a current record of inventory of all weight equipment.
- Establish a documented system of equipment safety evaluation.
- Make sure that all students participating in the program have a current physical examination card on file.
- Supervise and stress safety procedures in the weight room.
- Educate athletes on the importance of proper nutrition and the harm of illegal substances.
- Shall be responsible for establishing a routine daily cleaning, and weekly, monthly, and yearly equipment maintenance program.
- Shall be responsible for maintenance and repair of weight room equipment.
- Shall provide an equitable schedule for use of the weight room.
- Make the weight room available a minimum of three (3) days per week for a total of at least 270 minutes per week arranged as appropriate the entire year (12 months).
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties within the general scope of the job that may be requested by the Athletic Director.
