1400.41 - JOB DESCRIPTION – TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT

RESPONSIBILITY:

The Technology Assistant in the performance of his/her duties, is directly responsible to the building principals and the district technology coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma and college training in computer knowledge.

  2. Employment record indicating strong organizational skills and competence in interpersonal relationships and communication skills.

  3. Ability to relate positively with administrators, teachers, students, and the community.

  4. Passing score or better on qualifying technology assistant test.

  5. Strong background in the use of technology.

  6. Successful completion of a majority of the following computer courses:

    1. Programming - basic, cobol, fortrain, assembler language, data base management, operating systems, systems analysis.

    2. Business Data Processing - spread sheets, word processing, data base.

GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS:

The technology assistant is responsible for providing technology training and assistance to students and teachers. S/He must coordinate assignments and activities with the building principals and the technology coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide technology instruction to students in study hall.

  2. Keep records of student progress.

  3. Be responsible for equipment located in all rooms that the technology assistant supervises.

  4. Learn to use new and existing technology.

  5. Assist in inservice programs within the District.

  6. Provide technology based assistance to the student completing classroom assignments.

  7. Provide instruction and assistance to teachers.

  8. Assist in other technology labs as necessary.

  9. Provide technology-based assistance to students in need of freshmen proficiency test remediation.

  10. Inventory equipment located in room.

  11. Serve on technology planning committees as needed.

  12. Interacts with students, staff, visitors, and administrators in a positively responsive manner.

  13. Repair and maintenance of computer equipment.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  1. Participates in inservice training programs.

  2. Responsibility for confidentiality of student data.

  3. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principals.
