1400.30 - JOB DESCRIPTION - HOUSEKEEPER
RESPONSIBILITY:
The housekeeper, in the performance of his/her duties, is directly responsible to the principal or other administrator assigned to his/her supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Previous experience and/or demonstrated skill in cleaning, dusting, and general housekeeping techniques.
Skill in the care and use of standard cleaning tools, compounds, and supplies.
Ability to keep inventory and any necessary records associated with cleaning tasks.
Capability of performing cleaning and moving duties, including the ability to lift 30 lbs. and the ability to spend extended time standing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the supervisor and associates.
Ability to meet and work with school-aged children, and interest in educational programs.
Criminal investigations clearance.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The housekeeper is responsible for routine cleaning and dusting of furniture, walls, and fixtures in the school. The housekeeper assists the custodial staff with the preparation and presentation of areas in the building, especially those that are subject to high use.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Washes and polishes furnitures, equipment, walls, and fixtures in assigned areas.
Removes paper and other rubbish from assigned areas.
Keeps windows, mirrors, and chrome fixtures cleaned and polished.
Dusts furniture, trim, and fixtures as needed.
Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
Prepares area for scheduled functions.
Assists with sweeping and mopping where needed.
Reports maintenance problems and safety concerns to supervising administrator.
Replenishes and maintains materials used in work.
Maintains orderly, clean, and safe work areas.
Performs such other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts with students, school staff, and visitors in a manner that is positively responsive to their needs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
Works in accordance with District policies and procedures as well as State and Federal regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Previous experience and/or demonstrated skill in cleaning and/or light maintenance.
Service record that reflects positive interpersonal relationships, experience with school-aged children, and sensitivity to student needs.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Variety of cleaning tools and equipment, including mops, brooms, and automatic floor cleaning units.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
Exposure to chemicals, cleaning compounds, and food substances.
Occasional interaction among unruly children.
Moving and lifting of objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As specified in employee's contract and in keeping with the negotiated agreement.
