1400.06 - JOB DESCRIPTION – DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

RESPONSIBILITY:

The director is responsible to the Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Certification in one or more areas of educational administration by Ohio Department of Education.

  2. Previous teaching and/or administrative experience.

  3. Effective oral and written communication skills.

  4. Capability of attending day and evening school activities which may extend beyond an eight (8) hour work period.

  5. Demonstrated skill in staff evaluation and supervision.

Other Qualifications:

  1. Previous supervisory experience.

  2. Previous grants writing and/or budgetary experience preferred.

ROLE:

The Director of Student Support Services is a member of the administrative team who works to coordinate the various schools and departments of the District. S/He will serve as a liaison between the various school principals, as a supervisor for District-wide personnel/projects, and as an assistant to the Superintendent in the implementation of special projects, such as Chapter I.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Monitors Chapter I Project development and implementation including budget, test results, inventory, and evaluation, and works with the county curriculum coordinator in overall program management.

  2. Develops and implements shared administrative systems and communications between building principals.

  3. Develops and implements a master schedule of building use and building security.

  4. Oversees scheduling and supervises work of custodians, cooks, shared clerical, and other District-wide employees.

  5. Oversees the implementation of a master repair and maintenance schedule.

  6. Oversees District-wide service centers and personnel: copy center, receiving center, transportation records, and special education records center.

  7. Schedules and evaluatee DPPF personnel.

  8. Schedules and assists in the evaluation of shared certificated personnel, such as art, music, and physical education.

  9. Assists with the implementation of Intervention Assistance Team and other intervention programs.

  10. Coordinates District-wide testing.

  11. Conducts teacher or classified staff evaluations with shared personnel, or in overload or second option cases upon the request of the Superintendent.

  12. Provides back-up assistance to other administrators as requested by the Superintendent.

  13. Assists principals with the orientation of new teachers and shared inservice programs.

  14. Assists with negotiations with employees.

  15. Assists with shared grant funded programs.

  16. Communicates regularly with the public, administrative team, and Board regarding the special programs of the District. (public relations)

  17. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
