2250 - INNOVATIVE AND PILOT PROGRAMS

The Board of Education wishes to promote the continued improvement of the instructional and curricular program of the schools through all appropriate means. The Board will encourage members of the school staff and of the student body who wish to pursue a promising program for school improvement.

An innovative/pilot program design shall address the steps below when appropriate to the project:

  1. rationale

  2. specific objectives

  3. supportive research

  4. budgeting

  5. in-service requirements

  6. plans for broader implementation

  7. methods for evaluation

The District Administrator shall review and recommend any innovative/pilot programs designed to improve the District's educational program to the Board for approval.

If an innovative/pilot program is to become a permanent part of the District's educational program, it must have Board approval.

Each innovative/pilot program shall be consistent with the District's objectives and long range plans. Programs designed for students with disabilities must comply with Federal and State law.
