2110 - STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

WE BELIEVE THAT:

  1. the residents of the Pardeeville Area School District, through their elected Board of Education have the responsibility of providing the best education to fulfill the needs, interests and abilities of all the students in the School District;

  2. it is the responsibility of the school to teach all the children of all the parents and to create equal educational opportunities for each student;

  3. the Pardeeville Area School District should provide the finest administrative, instructional, and operational staff and physical facilities that it can obtain within the limitations of the community's abilities to furnish financial support.

Recognizing that the primary responsibility for the development of the child rests with the parents, the Pardeeville Area School District shall assist in promoting and supporting an educational program in which individual students are motivated to:

  1. develop a positive self-image;

  2. understand, appreciate, respect and accept individual differences of all people;

  3. acquire fundamental skills necessary to function in our changing society and environment.

To fulfill and maintain these goals, the School District shall provide each student with the following educational opportunities: (all of equal importance)

  1. to acquire basic communication and math skills;

  2. to prepare for academic, occupational and technical programs beyond high school;

  3. to understand one's responsibilities and rights as a citizen of the local, State, National and world communities and develop skills that enable effective participation within them;

  4. to appreciate one's own heritage, to learn about various cultures and to express themselves in a variety of artistic ways;

  5. to apply creative, constructive and critical thinking to personal and societal problems;

  6. to prepare for participation in lifelong learning and leisure time opportunities;

  7. to develop a sound mind and sound body;

  8. to understand the necessity to develop a balanced use of all natural resources for both present and future generations;

  9. to participate effectively as a consumer and as a producer of goods and services.

The School District's aim in education, therefore, is to develop individuals who are open to change, who are flexible and adaptive and who are thus able to learn continuously.
