1230 - RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR
The District Administrator of Schools shall strive to achieve District goals by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the support staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in and outside the District.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND BOARD EXPECTATIONS:
Keep the Board fully and accurately informed on all aspects of District operations, implementing its decisions and policies.
Ensure and maintain an effective program of internal and external communications.
Ensure that the District establish and maintain the highest academic standards possible for the benefit of the students.
Develop and maintain an efficient and effective accountability centered management system for the District.
Oversee and maintain the financial operations of the School District to ensure adherence to legal requirements and sound accounting practices.
Ensure that fair and equal treatment of all employees and students is maintained throughout the District.
Be the official spokesperson for the School District on all matters affecting the School District.
Duties and Tasks
Supervision and Evaluation
Establish and maintain the utilization of an administrative management team in the planning, coordinating and supervision of all District programs and operations.
Establish and maintain an up-to-date performance record of each member of the management team.
Oversee and direct a program of comprehensive supervision of all School District employees for which each member of the management team is responsible.
Establish and maintain an up-to-date job description for each position in the School District.
Keep the Board fully informed on staff performance evaluations as yearly scheduled or as requested by the Board.
Maintains for each employee a complete and up-to-date supervisory file.
Policy Maintenance and Development
Advise the Board on policy areas of need and in the formulation of policies in development.
Assume direct accountability to the Board for the execution of Board policies and all duties and tasks related
thereto.Prepare and research at the direction of the Board developmental drafts of policies and/or revisions.
Interpret School District needs and fully brief the Board on all recommendations, problems and issues brought before the Board and/or under its consideration.
Staffing Employment/Development
Make recommendations to the Board regarding the selection and promotion of all personnel and be prepared to provide rationale upon request.
Hold employees accountable to the chain of command for communications including complaints and concerns.
Oversee the planning and delivery of a constructive program of in-service training for all employees supporting District goals.
Provide for Board review a listing of staff needs and assignments for the upcoming year prior to the last meeting in February of the current year.
Interpret and administer collective bargaining contracts.
Budget and Fiscal Planning
Provide for Board review a preliminary budget draft by the first meeting in April of the current year.
Provide for Board for action a final budget draft at the last meeting in June of the current year.
Approve and direct purchases and expenditures within the limits of the approved budget in accordance with State statutes and Board policies.
Board Relations
Prepare and properly post an agenda for each meeting of the Board in consultation with the Board President.
Brief the Board prior to each meeting on all agenda items as necessary.
Brief the Board on other District matters as necessary.
Actively participate and attend all Board meetings.
Perform any additional duties and/or assignments that the Board of Education sees as necessary or appropriate.
