3210 - STAFF ETHICS

An effective educational program requires the services of men and women of integrity, high ideals, and human understanding. To maintain and promote these essentials, the School Board expects all professional staff members to maintain high standards in their working relationships.

Professional staff members in the performance of their professional duties will:

  1. recognize basic dignities of all individuals with whom they interact in the performance of duties;
  2. represent accurately their qualifications;
  3. exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students, colleagues, and subordinates;
  4. seek and apply the knowledge and skills appropriate to assigned responsibilities;
  5. be responsible in their personal posting and displaying of information and material on social media that may be disruptive to the work environment or negatively impact the corporation business and/or reputation;
  6. keep in confidence all student-related information unless such information in accordance with FERPA needs to be shared in the discharge of their professional responsibilities;
  7. refrain from any act of theft, concealment, criminal conversion, miss appropriation of any corporation property or otherwise engaged in any act of dishonesty including ghost employment;
  8. ensure that their actions or those of another on their behalf are not made with specific intent of advancing private economic interests;
  9. avoid accepting anything of value offered by another for the purpose of influencing judgment;
  10. refrain from using their position or public property, or permitting another person to use an employee's position or public property for partisan political or sectarian religious purposes.  This will in no way limit constitutionally or legally protected rights as a citizen.
