3120.09 - VOLUNTEERS

The Board of Education recognizes that certain programs and activities can be enhanced through the use of volunteers. Any person who volunteers in a regular and continuous capacity or chaperones field trips shall be screened through the Sex Offenders Registry (SOR), the Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) and the Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) prior to participation in any District program or activity.

Individuals convicted of crimes listed in the Sex Offender Registry Act, M.C.L. 28.722 as well as those persons convicted of felonies less than seven (7) years old shall not be allowed to volunteer in the schools or in the District. All other applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
