3124 - EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

It will be the responsibility of the District Administrator to ensure that all members of the professional staff execute a written employment contract in accordance with the legal requirements related to their position in the District.

The District Administrator is authorized to execute employment contracts for the Board upon approval of employment by the Board.

The Board recognizes the importance of attracting and retaining high-quality educators and acknowledges that demonstrating exceptional performance and making significant contributions to the District may warrant adjustments in employment contracts.

The District Administrator is hereby authorized to adjust the Career Ladder step placement of certified staff members under individual contracts (§118.22 Wis. Stats.), within the following parameters:

  1. Process: The District Administrator shall establish a process for recommending, evaluating, and approving step adjustments, which shall include documented evidence of the criteria being met (ag3124C).
  2. Purpose: Step adjustments shall be made to recognize and reward exceptional performance, outstanding contributions to the District, attainment of high-impact certifications or expertise, demonstrated leadership and mentorship, or service in addressing district shortage areas, consistent with criteria established by Administrative Guideline 3124C and aligned with Board goals and policies.
  3. Limitations: Any step adjustment shall not exceed two (2) steps on the approved Career Ladder. The District Administrator shall determine the total number of steps a staff member may advance through this process, within budgetary limitations and the overall Career Ladder structure.
  4. Reporting: The District Administrator shall report to the Board on any step adjustments made under this authority.
  5. Effect on Future Advancement: Step adjustments under this resolution shall impact a staff member's current salary and future placement on the Career Ladder in the same manner as standard step advancements.

This authorization is granted to the District Administrator to promote excellence and support the strategic goals of the School District of Jefferson, and shall be reviewed by the Board periodically as deemed necessary.
