1240 - EVALUATION OF THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR
The Board believes it is essential that it evaluate the District Administrator's performance periodically in order to assist both the Board and the District Administrator in the proper discharge of their responsibilities and to enable the Board to provide the District with the best possible leadership.
The Board shall bi-annually, in December and June of each year or at such other time as determined by the Board, conduct an evaluation of the District Administrator’s performance on a form developed for that purpose.
The evaluation of the District Administrator’s performance must be directly related to the specific job responsibilities listed on the Job Description (Policy 1400.01).
The evaluation shall also include a section on personal characteristics of the District Administrator deemed important to the success of a chief school administrator, a section on Board relations and a review of the district’s annual goals and objectives.
Such evaluation shall include an assessment of:
- the progress toward the educational goals and objectives of the District;
- the working relationship between the Board and the District Administrator;
- the Board's own effectiveness in providing direction to the District Administrator;
- personal characteristics of the District Administrator deemed important to the success of a chief school administrator.
Such assessments will be based on defined quality expectations developed by the Board for each criteria being assessed.
The Board and the District Administrator, jointly, shall, at the outset of each evaluation, determine the method by which the evaluation shall be conducted. Such a method may include:
- the District Administrator's own self-analysis of the current status of the District;
- the active participation of each Board member;
- a compilation of responses;
- from a prepared standard form by individual Board members, which shall then be reviewed jointly by the Board and District Administrator.
If at any time, in the opinion of the majority of the Board, the District Administrator’s services are unsatisfactory, s/he shall be notified and given an opportunity to correct the conditions. If the conditions are not corrected within a reasonable period of time, s/he shall be given notice in compliance with state law of the intent to refuse to renew his/her contract.
