0142.2 - OATH

Each newly-elected, re-elected, appointed, or re-appointed Board member shall take an oath of office administered by a notary public or other qualified person no later than thirty (30) days after beginning the term of office. (I.C. 5-4-1-1.2) However, the governing body may provide additional provisions to the oath that the governing body considers appropriate for the office.

"I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the State of Indiana, and the laws of the United States and the State of Indiana. I will faithfully execute the duties of my office as a member of this governing body, so help me God."

In addition, each Board member shall take other oaths which may be required for transactions connected with or related to the educational program of the School Corporation.

The oath shall be signed by the Board member and the person who administers it and filed in the circuit court clerk’s office of the county containing the greatest percentage of the population of the Corporation. (I.C. 5-4-1-4)
