1230 - RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR

The District Administrator shall strive to achieve District goals by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the support staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in and outside the District.

Duties and Responsibilities

The District Administrator shall be directly responsible to the Board of Education for the performance of the following assigned duties and responsibilities:

  1. keep the Board informed of school operation by preparing monthly Board agendas, providing oral and written communication, scheduling management team committee meetings, and requesting special Board meetings that become necessary to keep the Board properly informed

  2. ensure that all aspects of District operation comply with State laws and regulations as well as Board contracts and policies

  3. establish and maintain any written educational plan that may be required by law and consistent with the educational goals adopted by the Board

  4. ensure proper implementation of the current District-wide instructional plan

  5. strive to increase the efficient use of District resources in the daily operations of the schools

  6. assign staff to achieve the maximum benefit toward the attainment of educational goals

  7. evaluate the progress of the professional and support staff toward the attainment of educational goals

  8. analyze the results of instructional program development as it applies to the Board's educational goals

  9. recommend changes in instructional or staffing patterns based on an analysis of staff and program progress

  10. work to assure, where appropriate, that the decision-making process includes participation of the administration and staff, parents, students and others in the community

  11. work cooperatively with parents and community groups concerned with programs in the schools

  12. develop personal capabilities in personnel strategies and facility management

  13. work cooperatively with the Board and administrative staff

  14. strive toward the highest standards of personal conduct

  15. perform other duties as assigned by the Board and as consistent with statute

  16. perform such other duties as the Board may direct

  17. serve as "executive officer of the Board", thus the District Administrator will carry out the policies, rules and regulations of the Board

  18. attend all regular and special meetings of the Board

  19. have the authority to assist in or alter the assignment of, to transfer and to recommend to the Board the promotion or dismissal of any employee, subject to the current employee master agreement or Employee Handbook

  20. be responsible for keeping employees informed of all changes in School Board policies which may affect them

  21. be responsible for the financial records and accounts, and certifying the accuracy of the bills, statements and payroll

  22. prepare and submit to the Board for consideration and approval a budget of the estimated receipts and expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year

  23. within the limits of the detailed annual budget and applicable policies, duly approved by the Board, have the power to direct expenditures and purchases and order necessary materials and supplies to operate the District subject to the limitations of the approved budget

  24. have general supervision over a system of accounting covering student body finances and properties, and shall require periodic financial reports from person(s) in charge of these accounts

  25. have an understanding of ways to maintain the financial health of the District for the long term

  26. be visible in the school and communities by attending various community and school functions

  27. be approachable for community members to ask questions and promote the good work of the District

  28. be responsible to carefully study the school facility needs within the District and recommend to the Board plans for adequately meeting these needs

  29. have a long-range vision for the District in regards to curriculum, facility maintenance, budget, and technology

  30. rnsure that all records are kept properly; that all reports are completed and submitted promptly, and inform the Board Clerk of any necessary actions

  31. oversee the approval of applications of outside agencies for the use of school property and the assurance of such rentals follow District policy

  32. shall have general supervision over the transportation of pupils and shall see that such service is being provided in accordance with State statutes and the adoption policies of the Board
