9430 - COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS

The Board believes in providing opportunities for student and schools to enhance education through a variety of appropriate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Board recognizes that the community itself can be an excellent resource for such activities and welcomes the participation of community members who have special knowledge and skills that can add to the District’s program.

In order to ensure that activities recommended by or involving community volunteers in an instructional role are in keeping with District philosophy and will help students better accomplish the learning goals of the District’s program, the Superintendent shall establish procedures for the approval of any activity involving community volunteers. All volunteers and mentors are subject to a national sexual background screen and/or national criminal background check in alignment with Policy 8475.

The Superintendent will prepare any special administrative procedures required for the proper conduct and involving community volunteers. Business partner program procedures will be prepared by the Superintendent in alignment with the strategic plan of the District.
