9950 - TELEVISION STATION CONTENT PROHIBITIONS
The Brevard Public Schools Television station ("BPS-TV") shall not broadcast the following types of programming:
Programming that does not include all necessary copyrighted clearances.
Advertising of a commercial (for profit) service or product. Underwriting acknowledgements at the beginning and end of a program are allowed.
Endorsements of political issues or proposed ballot items (sample ballots and ballot listings are permitted).
Material that would violate any Federal, State, county, or city statute or law.
Material that promotes religious beliefs or philosophies.
Obscene, indecent, or defamatory material as defined by county ordinance or local community standards.
Programming the depicts people in a manner that discriminates or fosters discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other status or condition protected by applicable State or Federal laws.
Political Content
BPS-TV shall not air political programming or campaigning produced by or on behalf of any candidate for public office. Appearances on BPS-TV by elected officials seeking re-election and candidates seeking election is prohibited for a period of ninety (90) days prior to the election date, except in balanced, non-partisan open forum programming, candidate profile formats, or regularly scheduled government meetings.
Current elected officials who have qualified for election/re-election to any elective office may be shown on BPS-TV within ninety (90) days of an election date only in the performance of their official duties: conducting official business at meetings or incidental appearances in other programming.
