3420E - ANNUAL SICK LEAVE BUY BACK
Members of the instructional staff shall have the option of an annual payment for not more than ten (10) sick leave days accumulated during each normal work (fiscal or school) year provided the instructional staff member has demonstrated exemplary attendance during the normal work year as reflected in the District's payroll records. An instructional staff member who is absent for more than five (5) workdays during the normal work year shall not be eligible for annual payment for accumulated sick leave. Absences for approved professional leave, line-of-duty leave, jury duty, or paid vacation leave shall not adversely affect the instructional staff member's record of exemplary attendance. Any other absences from duty in excess of five (5) workdays shall act as a bar to the annual sick leave buy back benefit.
Payment for accumulated sick leave shall be calculated at eighty percent (80%) of the affected instructional staff member's normal daily rate multiplied by ten (10) days. Days for which payment is received shall be deducted from the instructional staff member's accumulated sick leave balance. Payment for annual sick leave buy back shall be included in the first paycheck of the following work year.
