2411.01 - COLLEGE/CAREER READINESS ASSESSMENT

Brevard Public School juniors will take a college/career readiness standardized assessment, unless waived by the Individual Education Plan (IEP), to provide an indication of their readiness for postsecondary education and careers. The results will be used by high school counselors to assist students to refine individual aspirations, goals, and needs and develop the Senior Year Plan to complete the program of study.

Effective with the Graduating Class of 2010-2011, the following procedures will be utilized to implement the College/Readiness Assessment and the development of the Senior Plan:

  1. High school counselors will meet with each junior and his/her parent to review the results of the college/career readiness assessment.

  2. Based on the results of the student, the counselor will develop the Senior Plan the college/career readiness assessment and the postsecondary goals.

  3. The Senior Plan will be put in writing and will include specific course selections for the student's schedule during the senior year.
