A student may enroll in courses offered by Florida Online High School as part of, or in addition to, the regular instructional day. Parent/Guardian and principal approval are required. The principal shall award credit for successful course completion.
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES
A maximum of two (2) credits may be earned through a correspondence study program provided that:

the course content is comparable to the District-adopted course;
the program is taken through an institution accredited by a State or one (1) of the five (5) regional accrediting agencies.
Exceptions for extenuating circumstances must be approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
CREDIT TOWARD GRADUATION
Students normally begin earning credit toward graduation in grade 9 for the twenty-six (26) credits required for graduation. High school courses taken prior to grade 9 may be counted as credit toward graduation provided the following conditions are met:
The course is listed in the 9-12 section of the Course Code Directory;
The course is part of a program of acceleration APPROVED BY THE PRINCIPAL.
Courses are offered on a semester or yearlong basis and credit is issued based on performance for the marking period. In order to earn course credit toward graduation, a student must demonstrate mastery of the state-adopted student performance standards.
Demonstration of mastery of the student performance standards means that a student has mastered at least sixty percent (60%) of the course performance standards assessed by teacher observations, classroom assignments, examinations, or other commonly accepted methods of assessing student performance.
