8500.01 - FOOD SERVICES FUNDS
It is the intention of this rule for parents to keep balances sufficient for their children to eat hot lunches each day. Parents are ultimately responsible to see the child has funds for a hot lunch. Parents with limited or low income should consider the free and reduced lunch program. Free and reduced lunch applications are readily available at each kitchen or the school offices.
The district-wide food service plan allows students to eat hot lunch and have their automated account debited for each meal once parents have deposited funds in the family’s food service account. Parents will be notified once their account declines to five dollars ($5.00). Students are also notified verbally each day when their account is less than $5.00.
If a parent or guardian fails to provide their child(ren) with a bag lunch and beverage or money for 10 days after the account goes negative, the student will be offered a sandwich and milk. The Food Service Coordinator, at their discretion, may temporarily suspend this provision for families with unforeseen hardships.
