2110 - BASIC PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

The fundamental purpose of the Argos Community Schools is to provide a quality education for all boys and girls and to help each student realize his/her potential as a rational person capable of meeting the moral, social, economic, and emotional problems of life. Recognizing the wide range of student ability this philosophy emphasizes the individual and his/her total development, rather than his/her intellectual development alone. It recognizes the dignity and worth of each individual and serves to preserve and enhance within each student his/her sense of freedom and feeling of responsibility. The educational program of our schools is designed to assist each individual to understand and accept his/her abilities, aptitudes, and interests; to develop them to the greatest extent; to relate them to realistic life goals; and, finally to reach a state of mature self-guidance in our democratic society.
